The Power-Plate uses the principles of Whole Body Vibration (WBV) Training.

The Health & Fitness industries are rife with fads and trends. Often the products and activities rely on unfounded claims with little research to support them. This is not the case with WBV training.

WBV Training was first used by Soviet cosmonauts in the 1960’s to counteract the bone and muscle degeneration caused by zero gravity. It is considered to have been responsible for the cosmonauts’ exceptional record of staying in space for over 400 days, more than three times as long as their American counterparts. In 1999, Dutch Olympic Trainer Guus van der Meer adapted the techniques, first for the elite athletes and then for people of all ages, weights and fitness levels.
